How much weight should I put when fishing in the Dambovita river?

Hey there! Thanks for your question about fishing in the Dambovita River. While the video context provided doesn't specifically cover the Dambovita River, I can still offer some general advice based on my bass fishing experience.

When it comes to selecting the right weight for your fishing setup, it largely depends on a few factors: the current, depth, and type of bait or lure you're using. Here are some guidelines to help you out:

  1. Current: If the Dambovita River has a strong current, you'll need a heavier weight to keep your bait or lure in place. In fast-moving water, a weight between 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce might be necessary.

  2. Depth: For deeper sections of the river, you'll also need a heavier weight to ensure your bait reaches the bottom. In shallower areas, lighter weights (1/8 ounce to 1/4 ounce) are usually sufficient.

  3. Bait/Lure Type: The type of bait or lure you're using can also influence your weight choice. For example, if you're using soft plastics like worms or creature baits, a Texas rig with a bullet weight (1/4 ounce to 3/8 ounce) is a popular choice. For crankbaits or spinnerbaits, the weight is usually built into the lure, so additional weight might not be necessary.

  4. Fishing Technique: If you're fishing with techniques like drop shotting or Carolina rigging, you'll need to adjust your weights accordingly. Drop shot weights typically range from 1/8 ounce to 1/2 ounce, while Carolina rig weights can go from 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce depending on the conditions.

Since I don't have specific details about the Dambovita River's conditions, these general guidelines should help you get started. If you can provide more information about the river's current, depth, and the type of bait or lure you plan to use, I can give you a more tailored recommendation.

Happy fishing, and tight lines!

BMP Fishing: The Series | St. Lawrence River by BmpFishing So, biggest bag I've weighed here, thanks due to a six five beast that we caught, and the good news is, is that everyone else didn't necessarily catch as good as the first day. So, we jumped all the way up into the top 10. Same thing I did here last year. Rallied on day two. I think we're sitting about seventh place right now. And we are about three and a half pounds off the lead. So, we are definitely still in this thing. In it to win it. Oh, that is true, yesterday I opened my mouth and I said I'd do the Kiki challenge if I broke 25 pounds today and I weighed 25-12 So, it is official. When we get back to the house, I have to do the Kiki challenge. It's gonna be embarrassing. For me, fishing pressure is not an issue. There's really hardly been any anglers around. I've maybe seen two or three boats a day. You know, we just, time is the big thing. That's what we been talking about this week. Today's a big day. Weights are gonna remain big, to make the top 12. So, we're gonna go out there, try to catch 28 pounds. That's the goal today to get back on track for my hundred pound mark. (boat engine running) (rock music) (reel clicking) That's a big 'un. Decent one too. Four pounder, four plus. (sighs) (reel whirring) (water splashing) You've got to be fricking kidding me. I can't do day one all over again. My heart can't take that.

BMP Fishing: The Series | St. Lawrence River by BmpFishing We had some opportunities, just did not execute. And that's why I was so frustrating. I feel like we should of had more weight than what we did, but you just can't lose that many and expect to have a big bag, so. Funny saying that almost 21 pounds is sub par, but on this place, this week, it's what it is. - You did the Kiki first. - I will when weigh, if I way 25 plus. (sighs) - Okay. (rustling in cooler) - As you can tell, we finally made it down here. Day two. We're about as far as you can go. Started in a different area this morning. We've got two small bites so far. We got beautiful weather, winds gonna pick up this afternoon, so we're gonna try to make the most of it this morning. Guys smashed 'em yesterday. We had just under 21 pounds, and we're sitting somewhere in the 40's. So, we need a 25 pound rally bag today. 25 gets you a Kiki. Kyle's never wanted me to catch 25 pounds more in his life. (upbeat flowing rap music) Oh, he's little too! Not worth 25 pounds. Unless we catch a couple eight pounders. Let me go ahead and start 'er off with a limit for five pounds. Instead of a limit of five pounder. Our first five are not very impressive. Need to get rid of all five of 'em. (rap music tempo picking up) Little more in that direction. I'm marking them everywhere, now.

BMP Fishing: The Series | Lake Martin by BmpFishing Easy now, easy now. I need you in this box. (water splashes Number five. Ohhh, that was a freaking giant. Oh my gosh. I watched him eat it right there. It was a three pounder. Oh no, stole my worm. Man, making it hard on me. Oh, you got to be kidding me? I let him swim with it forever. (calm music) should have cranked more today. Got some work to do tomorrow boys. (lively music) - [Man] Talk to me a little bit about Lake Martin. She looks muddy. - Lake Martin is brutal for me this week. I never could get anything going. It's not good. (laughs) - [Man] Did they tell you something? - No just a little. That's not what you want. They need to be a lot bigger than that. - [Zaldain] Tak's got a massive bag. - [Brandon] Cranking largies. - Yeah, he's got to be up the river. - I'm gonna guess I'm somewhere about 80th or so. If I was just taking a guess. - Tied for first? - Well has anybody weighed in yet? - [Man] No. - Okay yeah, I'm tied for first that's right. (laughs) We ended up with more than I thought we had. I thought we had about 6 1/2 pounds. We weighed 8.5. I don't know what the cut weight's gonna be yet. It's still too early to tell. Probably gonna be nine to 10 pounds, somewhere in there. 9 1/2 pounds, I'm guessing, per day for the cut weight.

BMP Fishing: The Series | St. Lawrence River by BmpFishing (slow heavy beat music) They're down there. Good start. Jeez, the whole graph is just lit. Yes! Told ya the graph is lit up. Not very big either. Not 26 pounds worth, but it's fun. Just making a top 12 is super tough. Making one in an event like this is even tougher when it's just an absolute slow trek. Everybody's catching 20 pounds. You have to have at least one big day, like we had on day two, to get yourself kind of above that average, and you have to do it multiple days in a row. (groans) When they go to firin', it's like frickin' frenzy. And airborne they go. Yesterday, I would of been all freaking out about this one. Today, I'm like 30 or bust. 30 or bust. So, we're just gonna take our time, land him. Then, go on to six pounders. That was easy. Thanks buddy. That was so nice of him. I'm liking the way it's starting though. We need to catch as much weight as possible and then see what happens. Those guys that have to stumble greatly were only caught like 20 pounds. So, we're gonna need at least 25 to have a shot. At least. This is big. Feels like a big one, man. Enough to get my heart pumpin'. Pretty sure it's a bass. Oh yeah, oh yeah. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah. That's a four pounder. Yeah, that was a good coal there. Another one. Stay on there, come one. Looks like a fiver. Come on.
