When should I use watermelon seed color baits?

Watermelon seed-colored baits are a fantastic choice for bass fishing, especially in clear water conditions. This color mimics the natural appearance of forage in such environments, making it appealing to bass that rely on sight to hunt. The subtle, natural hue of watermelon seed is less intrusive and can be particularly effective when the water clarity is high, allowing you to see several feet down into the water column.

In the videos you've referenced, experts suggest that watermelon seed works exceptionally well in clear water situations. For instance, in the "One of the BEST WORMS Ever Created!" video, the angler mentions using watermelon in "the clearest of clear water situations," and in "The Top Myth Around Soft Plastic Colors…," the angler suggests using watermelon for water visibilities of at least three feet, preferably four to five feet.

Additionally, in "My Secrets For Selecting The Proper Wacky Worm Color For Springtime Bass," the angler recommends watermelon seed during the spawn when bass are bedding, as its translucent quality can be more enticing to bass in shallow, clear water.

Remember, while watermelon seed is a go-to in clear water, it's always important to consider the behavior of the bass and the overall conditions of the day, such as light levels and water temperature, which can also influence bait selection. If you're fishing in clear water and trying to present a natural and less intrusive profile, definitely give watermelon seed-colored baits a try.

YOU Are Wasting $$$ On SENKOS (Tackle Organization) by BassFishingHQ water for pressured bass a lot of times watermelon red is not a color that you're gonna associate with muddy or water but if you are fishing in really off-color water a lot of guys are gonna pick darker baits kind of like we talked about earlier with the june bugs and the blacks but watermelon red because of that red flash i think that it actually shows pretty well in muddy water and i have seen it be the difference between catching fish and not when a guy is going down the bank flipping a bait that is june bug or dark colored and you go behind them and you're going to catch a lot more bass on that watermelon red and again this is this really pertains to pressured bodies of water a lot of times if you're not fishing around a lot of pressure that black or that june bug is probably going to work better but if you're fishing on pressure bodies of water watermelon red is a sneaky color to use now the next two colors i don't have with me but i tend to use the next two colors strictly during the summer and the first one is going to be chartreuse pepper the chartreuse pepper was the exact first stick bait cinco style bait that i ever started fishing like period like that was the first one i remember going to bass pro shops and i picked up a new

One of the BEST WORMS Ever Created! (Tackle Organization Day 2) by BassFishingHQ times and that is straight up watermelon like i said before bass can see green really really well in the water and watermelon is just a little bit different color than that green pumpkin and where i like to use watermelon is really in the clearest of clear water situations there are some lakes across the nation uh you know lakes that i fish like in south carolina and north carolina i mean all over the place even up in new york that are just extremely clear like you can see down 10 15 20 foot of water and there's even ponds that are this exact same way sometimes you fish those really really clear water ponds and that watermelon color it's very natural just seems to do really really well in clear water now again i'm going to use this watermelon collar on a shaky head a lot of times if i'm fishing clear water i like to finesse fish a little bit more so in that situation i'm gonna use a shaky head over a texas rig because a lot of times you can fish a shaky head on a little bit lighter line and that shaky head really allows that bait to kind of stand up off the bottom which i think can be extremely important when you're fishing clear water let's move on to the next trick worm color that i think that you really need to have in

YOU Are Wasting $$$ On SENKOS (Tackle Organization) by BassFishingHQ and green pumpkin catches them but there are times that i've seen that a watermelon red color gets bit when it seems like no other lure will really get baked so when i like to use watermelon red and i almost don't even want to say this it's just something that a lot of guys don't always think about but when you hear it you're like oh no duh but it's during the pre-spawn we all know that bass love red baits during that pre-spawn whether it's a red crank bait a red chatterbait a red lipless crankbait if you're fishing during the pre-spawn and you're fishing like a texas rig cinco or a weightless senko watermelon red with that little bit of red flash really can catch a lot of bass again not not everyone always thinks about that but when you hear it you're like oh that makes sense like no dub now watermelon red is also another one of those florida baits i actually have quite a bit i talk about florida a lot because i have a lot of experience down in florida i i fish there every single year growing up as a child and i have fished tons of tournaments down there on lake toho the harris chain of lakes i fish all over central florida and watermelon red is another fantastic color down in florida now another time that i fish the watermelon red is when i'm fishing muddy

STOP Wasting Money on Soft Plastics! by Nathan Quince Fishing color i would add to these two would be a watermelon this color tends to work in cleaner water over these two but this is like for very very clean water if you wanted to skip the watermelon you could just get away with just a black and a green pumpkin for starters let's talk about why these three base colors work so well and then what you'd want to add to these to catch more fish so the reason that black is such an exceptional color and really could be the only color that i use is because it can imitate anything because it imitates just the shadow of whatever it could be down there on the bottom so worms you could use creature baits in black to imitate bluegills crawfish anything the reason that green pumpkin color does so well is because a lot of the stuff that these fish feed on in the water like crawfish bluegills other little minnows on the bottom have this dark greenish brown color pattern to it and typically green pumpkin will have black glitter in it as well so that modeled presentation really imitates pretty much anything the bass could be feeding on and the reason that the watermelon color works very well in clear water is because it has that translucent color to it compared to a green pumpkin or black where there's solid color it's essentially a lighter green pumpkin it still has the black
