How to catch trophy bass?

To catch trophy bass, there are several techniques you can try. One important aspect is using big swim baits. These large and heavy lures are popular on the west coast but can work anywhere. When using big swim baits, it's crucial to have the right state of mind because you may only get a couple of bites in a day. However, these bites are often from the big fish you're looking for. Fishing them slow allows the fish to see the bait as a substantial meal and commit to eating it.

Another technique is upsizing your baits. Instead of using smaller worms, opt for larger ones. Trophy bass look for big meals that provide enough fuel, so using bigger baits increases your chances of enticing them. Additionally, trophy bass tend to be loners, so don't expect to find them in schools. They often isolate themselves, making it important to search for those one or two bites that can be really rewarding.

Having the right equipment is also crucial. Using a reel that can cast the furthest distance helps eliminate noise and keeps you at a safe distance from the fish. This allows you to present your bait to the fish before they hear or see you, giving you an advantage. It's also important to set your drag properly to avoid snapping your line when hooking up to a big bass.

Considering the weather and time of day is also important. Low-light conditions, such as early morning or evening, can be favorable for catching trophy bass. Understanding how weather affects bass fishing can provide you with more insights on when and where to fish.

Understanding Big Bass - How to Catch a Trophy Largemouth by BamaBass really good chance you're going to catch those really big bass all right now another big tip that I'll give you that has helped me tremendously and catch more big fish is the reel that you use you need a reel that can cast the furthest amount of distance you know and because that's going to help you eliminate some of that noise you know the further you can throw the more distance between you and the fish and the less likely they are to hear you so having a good reel as a key you know to get making those long casts and presenting a bait to a fish before they ever hear you in its natural state and that'll give you a good advantage and we'll kind of go back to my childhood for one more second I'm you know a lot of people you know idolized fishermen like KVD and don't get me wrong I love KVD and watching him you know in tournaments and that sort of thing but when I was a kid I was always extremely interested in those people who had figured the big bass out like the bass professor Doug Hannon and there's also one other guy I'd like to introduce a lot of you to that I'm sure you haven't ever heard of him his name is Pat Cullen and he caught at one point he called 1,100 bass that were over ten pounds and

Understanding Big Bass - How to Catch a Trophy Largemouth by BamaBass themselves you know they'll sit around a hump or they'll sit near bait and near other fish and possibly feed off of the wounded shad that come down from under a bait ball but they're usually going to be loners so you're not necessarily going to go out and expect to catch a school of fish when you're doing that trophy style fishing you're looking for those one or two bites that are going to be really rewarding and the last thing I want to talk about with equipment is just make sure to set your drag I mean that's the one thing you don't want to do is have a drag that's too tight you hook up to a 10 pounder and then they make a run whenever they see you or see the boat and the drag set too tight and your line is up snapping so always make sure you got that drag set so now I want to talk about the weather a little bit and if you didn't get a chance to see my previous video that I put out on how the weather affects bass fishing I'll also put a link below and it goes into extreme detail on you know the times you should be fishing but I'd like to mention a couple things about the time of day and the weather when you're fishing for big bass and to start off with I'll say that low-light conditions
