Best bass urban fishing spots in San Jose, CA?

While I don't have specific video context from Jon B. regarding bass fishing spots in San Jose, California, I can certainly share some popular urban bass fishing locations in the area based on my expertise as a pro bass fishing guide. San Jose offers a variety of urban waters where you can target both largemouth and smallmouth bass.

  1. Guadalupe River Park: This urban stretch of water flows through downtown San Jose and can be a surprising home to bass. Look for bass around structure like bridge pilings and fallen trees.

  2. Almaden Lake Park: Located in the Almaden Valley, this park has a lake that's stocked with bass among other species. It's a great spot for a family fishing day with plenty of amenities nearby.

  3. Coyote Creek: Flowing through the heart of San Jose, Coyote Creek has some good spots for bass, especially where the water is slower and there's cover for the fish to hide.

  4. Anderson Lake: This is a larger body of water just outside of San Jose, but it's well worth the short drive. It's known for its bass fishing and offers both shore and boat access.

  5. Calero Reservoir: Another excellent spot for bass fishing, Calero Reservoir is south of San Jose and offers both largemouth and smallmouth bass.

When fishing these urban locations, it's important to pay attention to local regulations as some areas may have specific rules about fishing methods, catch limits, or seasonal restrictions. Also, urban waters can be subject to pollution, so always handle fish with care and consider catch and release to preserve the fishery.

If you're new to bass fishing or urban angling, using finesse techniques like drop-shotting with natural-colored soft plastics, or throwing a wacky-rigged Senko can be very effective. Always look for areas with good cover or structure, as bass tend to hold in these spots, especially in urban environments where natural habitats may be limited.

Remember to respect the environment and the local community by cleaning up after yourself and handling fish responsibly. Happy fishing in San Jose! If you need more specific advice or have other questions about bass fishing, feel free to ask!
