Help and advice with UV clear coat when bait making.

UV clear coat is a protective coating that is applied to fishing lures to prevent the colors from fading due to exposure to sunlight. It is especially important when using alcohol inks, like in the video, as these inks are not UV stable.

To use UV clear coat when making bait, follow these tips and advice:

  1. Apply a base coat: Before applying the UV clear coat, make sure you have painted your lure with the desired colors and patterns. This can be done using airbrushing techniques or other painting methods.

  2. Choose a UV clear spray: In the video, the creator uses a UV clear spray called KBS Diamond clear spray. This spray is not as tough as a two-part epoxy, but it will protect the paint and waterproof it. It is important to choose a clear coat that is compatible with the materials you are using and that will not affect the texture or appearance of the lure.

  3. Apply the UV clear coat: Once you have chosen your UV clear spray, apply it to the lure in a thin and even layer. This can be done by spraying the clear coat directly onto the lure or by using a brush to apply it. Make sure to cover the entire surface of the lure, including any painted areas.

  4. Allow the clear coat to cure: After applying the UV clear coat, set the lure aside and allow it to cure. The curing time will depend on the specific product you are using, so make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions. Curing times can range from a few hours to several days.

  5. Optional: Apply additional coats: If desired, you can apply multiple coats of UV clear coat to further enhance the protection and durability of the lure. Just make sure to allow each coat to fully cure before applying the next one.

Remember, the purpose of the UV clear coat is to protect the colors and patterns on your lure from fading due to exposure to sunlight. It is an important step in the lure-making process to ensure that your bait remains effective and visually appealing to bass.

Lure Foiling - how I foil my handmade fishing lures by zimmtex you'll need to wear a respirator and all the protection and everything just like normal the only drawback with these alcohol inks that I've found so far is that they are not UV stable so once you've got that painted onto your lure you're going to have to come back over it with something like this UV clear spray and that will protect the color from fading then you can put your clear coat of choice over the surface I haven't used every clear coat Under the Sun but those that I have used tend to work pretty well now I do like a thicker clear coat and the reason being is there's a little Edge on this foil that I mean it's very fine but it's there you can feel it and so if you put a pretty thick clear coat over it it'll smooth that out and then you can come back and paint over that over that top and you won't even see the seam so that's it I hope you found this video useful if you did please subscribe and give me a thumbs up so that I know to make more content like this thanks for watching and I'll see you on the next one

Handmade Chamelion Trout Fishing Lure - a how to guide on painting wooden fishing lures by zimmtex I think I'm going to add a little bit of orange on this throat area here and so what I've done is I've mixed up a pretty dark orange in my airbrush here and we're just going to lightly Mist that over the throat area foreign foreign so I'm ready to clear coat this lure um ordinarily I would use a two-part epoxy to cover the whole thing and that would be a really good solid uh clear coat but I don't really want to use that on this lure because that paint that I've put on there has created a really uh interesting texture over the whole lure which I think gives it a little bit extra pop so what I'm going to use is this KBS Diamond clear spray it's not going to be as tough as a two-part epoxy but it will protect the paint and waterproof it and it'll also preserve that texture oh and we'll set this aside and let this cure before I try and assemble the whole thing since I didn't do my traditional clear coat over this with resin I'm going to go around this lit the edges of this lip and seal that lip really well to the body now that these are cured we can go ahead and attach the two pieces together I've mixed up some more epoxy I'm just going to put it on both of those all right and then we just let that cure

Soft Plastic Lure Painting Instruction by LureWorks Kits | Bass Fishing by Bass Fishing Tips & Techniques by BassResource Since that paint is still wet, we can just use it as the glue to attach these eyes. These eyes are soft PVC eyes. They are flexible. We just stick them in that slot there. I am going to speed up the drying of this so we can dip this bait in the hot plastic. So I am going to use a regular blow dryer. [pause] Okay. I am going to take a hook. I got to have something to attach this with so I can dip it in the plastic. So we will just use the hook. You might let this dry a little bit longer but it is still dry enough to dip in this plastic. This is a product we call Clearasol and it's a plastisol especially made to put a coating on this outside. I am going to just dip it in here. You see how it looks now. It is shiny but it doesn't really have a really 3D look. Once we dip it in here, we pull this out and it gives it a really nice 3D effect. Okay. This will be cooled down in just a few minutes here. It is almost dry to the touch now. If you look at the nice depth you get there. Once it is cooled down, we will snip this little end off of it. I have got some other baits here we have already painted. This is a Fire Tiger.
