What lure is best for late October northern bass fishing?

Late October can be a challenging time for bass fishing, but there are several effective lures you can use to increase your chances of success. One popular lure for this time of year is a Buzz bait. This lure is versatile and can be fished throughout the entire day, even in sunny conditions. It is a go-to lure for many anglers in the fall. Another effective lure is a Ned rig, which is a finesse technique that can generate reaction strikes from bass. You can start with a 16th ounce jig head for maximum action, but if that's not working, you can switch to a heavier head, like a 3/8 ounce jig head, for a faster fall and increased reaction strikes.

For deeper fishing, a crankbait can be highly effective. In the fall, bass tend to move into the backs of creeks and stop off on key pieces of cover. Using a deep diving crankbait can help you cover a lot of water quickly and target offshore pieces of cover. The Spro Little John DD and the Mega Bass Z3 are two popular crankbaits for this time of year.

Additionally, a lipless crankbait is a versatile lure that can be fished in various types of cover, such as grass, stumps, standing timber, and rock banks. It can cover a lot of water and imitate shad, which bass feed heavily on in the fall.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of these lures may vary depending on your location and the specific conditions of the lake you're fishing. It's always a good idea to observe the behavior of the bass and adjust your techniques accordingly.

YOU Can't BEAT These 5 OCTOBER Lures by BassFishingHQ when that top layer of the lake kind of flips with the bottom layer it can be very very difficult fishing the other thing that that does is it really spreads out the fish now when it comes to falltime fishing to me there's really two main kind of parts of it you have kind of this first part where the bass are really spread out and you have the second part where it's really fall feed where the bass are feeding pretty heavily now during the month of October for the most part unless you live in the northern part of the country I'm kind of dealing with that kind of first part of the Fall where the fish are really spread out and you can kind of catch them anywhere now with that being said let's talk about lure number one that I'm absolutely going to have with me all the time in the fall and definitely in October and that is a Buzz bait oh got it right there that is a better one stay on there man there we go dude was that sweet I can't believe he came back and got it this is a bait that I will start with this is a bait that I will fish all throughout the entire day even if it's really sunny out and this is a bait that I will end with it is absolutely one of my go-to lures in the month of October

DON'T Go To The Lake In October WITHOUT These 5 Baits! by Bass Fishing Declassified generally what I start with I like a 16th ounce  which gives me the maximum amount of spirally in   action as well as gliding action out of the Ned  rig on the fall which are good characteristics   to generate reaction strikes now if that's  not working here's a very good tip for you   go to a much heavier head go from super light  to very heavy for a Ned rig I'm talking a 3 8   ounce jig head so that you're going to get this  thing to fall like a rock straight to the bottom   but that super fast fall creates reaction strikes  out of the same fish that were watching that light   net rig fall to the bottom and we're ignoring  it they have a hard time ignoring it when it's   falling really fast right by their faces so don't  be afraid to switch to a very heavy Ned rig head   from a rod and reel standpoint pretty basic  finesse equipment I've got a 7-3 custom built   mhx nsj871 so it's a 7-3 medium light fast action  Rod gets the job done for those big largemouth   and Smallmouth that I'm going to be catching  this month I've got that paired up with an Abu   Garcia Revo mg Xtreme which is a fantastic reel  that has an a perfect drag which you're going   to need because a lot of these fish still have  a lot of good fight power left in them if your   drag's not set right you could break a lot of  these fish off on the light line in this case

The Forgotten Way To Catch Quality Bass In Late October… by Intuitive Angling With Randy Blaukat seasonal movements and migrations and habits with that now that's one of the things I really like about traditional bass fishing is there's there's a a constant consistent change in how they behave and how they feed and how they react to different lures and one of the things that I've noticed um right around the time when you get around Halloween it's a pretty big transition time as far as overall because you got some major water changes going on around Halloween this time of year sort of in the end of October like this this is the first time since really last you know late last winter where you start to get some freezing temperatures in most parts of the country usually Halloween you know or November you get your first Freeze first Frost and when that happens there it triggers something within the bass specifically around the end of October Halloween by far guys the number one technique if I could give you guys any piece of advice on catching bass in Halloween it's to get you a little small spinner bait like a with 3/8 to 38 to half oun spinner bait that's got a small profile on it and put one number three Willow Leaf blade on it just a little silver wheel leaf and sometimes you know cut the wire back to make it a small profile with some type of a translucent Shad colored skirt I usually like that

DON'T Go To The Lake In October WITHOUT These 5 Baits! by Bass Fishing Declassified reason I like it is because I can cover a lot of  water with it right now in October we're in that   fall transition and each lake is different and  each part of the lake can be different so you're   trying to cover a lot of water and find fish  and with the lipless crankbait I can do that   the other reason I like the lipless crankbait is  because you can fish a bunch of different types   of cover with it you can fish your grass such as  hydrilla milfoil you can fish stumps you can fish   stand and Timber you can go after the suspended  fish even with it and then of course you can go   down your rock bang say your 45 degree Banks  or even your Bluffs so it's just an all-around   Bursa lure that can cover a lot of water and  fish different types of cover for the fish   the areas that I'm going to choose are going to be  the middle the back half of the creeks and so each   Creek is different its own way as I said you know  earlier with the different types of cover so you   could have all one of those covers in that Creek  or you might not have any of the covers for the   early part of October I'm going to be throwing my  Shad patterns mainly but then about the third week   I'm the third fourth week I'm going to pull out  my Reds as y'all know down here even East Texas

DON'T Go To The Lake In October WITHOUT These 5 Baits! by Bass Fishing Declassified want I recommend and having at least a six eight  to one if not faster bottom line is when you when   you start to fight a fish if it makes a run at you  it's nice to take in that slack but having that   real parabolic two power three power Rod will  help keep from pulling those treble hooks out   my favorite October bait by far is a deep diving  crankbait you guys know I love fishing offshore   whether you're in Texas Arkansas the Tennessee  River or over in the Carolinas you can catch fish   deep cranking in October what happens in October  is that bass are going to start making their way   into the backs of creeks on Highland and lowland  reservoirs and they're going to stop off on key   pieces of cover halfway back in these Creeks these  could be brush piles Rock piles or standing Timber   basically if there's Bait fish around a piece of  cover in the middle of a creek you're going to   be able to find Bass a deep diving crankbait is a  great tool to cover a lot of these pieces of cover   quickly the Deep diving crankbait can Target  offshore pieces of cover in five feet of water   down to 25 feet of water depending on which bait  you throw and the bass can be feeding up heavily   on Shad so the crankbait imitates Shad really  well the three crankbaits I choose to cover all   the depth ranges you need basically we are first  up the spro little John DD the reason I choose
