Description

Fish the Lewis like you know it — because now you do. The Lewis River Spring Fly Box is hand-curated specifically for the conditions, hatches, and trout behavior you'll encounter on the Lewis from late May through June. The Lewis opens with the rest of the park and clears faster than many of the northern rivers — it's in the Snake River drainage rather than the Yellowstone or Madison systems, which gives it a different character and a slightly different spring fishery. This box is built around the Lewis's spring hatch calendar — stonefly nymphs, BWOs, and midges on a river that sees a fraction of the pressure of the park's northern waters. Every fly was chosen with fishing the meadow section near Lewis Lake while most anglers head to the Firehole or Madison in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year. What's in the box: 36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering stonefly nymphs, BWO dries, Skwala patterns, Hare's Ear nymphs, Pheasant Tail nymphs, and Woolly Bugger streamers. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season. Pro tip from the water: While everyone heads to the Firehole or Gibbon in early spring, the Lewis sees almost no pressure. The fish haven't seen many flies by opener and can be remarkably willing compared to the park's more famous waters. Whether you're making your first trip to the Lewis or you fish it every season, this box gives you a proven starting lineup so you can spend more time fishing and less time digging through bins at the fly shop. Includes a quality waterproof fly box. All flies are hand-tied to Bozeman FlyWorks standards — the same quality we'd put on our own lines.
