Description

Hand carved wood construction Body length 6" Weight 2.1 oz. Tune retaining .035" stainless prop held by two screws "Drop-Wire" hook hanger acts as a keel .063" through wire construction 4/0 Eagle Claw hooks with heat shrink on rear Wolverine Triple Split Rings Description With so many choices of tailbaits on the market today, what makes the Lee Lures Water Chopper better? Well, they are hand made from wood which allows them float better and run in rougher water. They have a "drop-wire" hook hanger for better hooking which acts as a keel. They will also run slower than most with cupped stainless blade which means bigger fish. And are guaranteed for the life of the bait. How's that for starters? The "Chopper" is at home in flat calm water or up to three foot waves! Keep in mind that with the design of the cupped tail blade, the bait will perform better at a slower to medium speed for optimum sound. When fish has been caught on the bait, make sure that the trough-wire shaft is totally straight, and heat shrink tubing on rear hook is still intact. Sharpen hooks, and get it back in the water for your next fish! See it in action Fish caught on this bait

Field Notes

This is a topwater tailbait/chopper-style lure designed to run on the surface and throw a lot of sound. It works best at a slower to medium retrieve in calm water to moderate chop, and the listing says it can handle up to about three-foot waves. Use it when fish are feeding shallow and you want a noisy, commotion-style presentation.

Pros

  • Hand-carved wood body floats well
  • Runs in rougher water better than many tailbaits
  • Slow-to-medium retrieve produces strong sound
  • Through-wire construction and quality hardware

Cons

  • Best at slower speeds, so it is not a fast-search bait
  • Topwater presentation can be less effective in very cold water or when fish are deep
