Hand carved wood construction Body length 7" Weight 2.8 oz. Tune retaining .035" stainless prop held by two screws "Drop-Wire" hook hanger acts as a keel .063" through wire construction 5/0 Eagle Claw hooks with heat shrink on rear Wolverine Triple Split Rings Light epoxy coat finish in fish catching colors Description With so many choices of tailbaits on the market today, what makes the Lee Lures Water Chopper HD better? Well, they are hand made from wood, which allows them to float better and run in rougher water. They have a "drop-wire" hook hanger for better hooking which acts as a keel. They will also run slower than most with cupped stainless blade which means bigger fish. And are guaranteed for the life of the bait. How's that for starters? The "Chopper HD" is at home in flat calm water or in up to four foot waves! Keep in mind that with the design of the cupped tail blade, the bait will preform better at a slower to medium speed for optimum sound. When fish has been caught on the bait, make sure that the trough-wire shaft is totally straight, and heat shrink tubing on rear hook is still intact. Sharpen hooks, and get it back in the water for your next fish! See it in action Fish caught on this bait -->

Field Notes

This is a surface prop bait designed to be worked at a slow to medium retrieve speed for maximum sound and commotion. It is especially useful in calm water to rougher conditions up to about four-foot waves, where its floating wood body and cupped tail blade can call fish up from below.

Pros

  • Floats well thanks to wood construction
  • Runs in rougher water than many tailbaits
  • Cupped stainless prop/blade creates strong surface disturbance
  • Through-wire construction and quality hardware improve durability

Cons

  • Performs best at slower to medium speeds
  • Large profile and hardware make it more specialized than a general-purpose topwater
