For a general swimbait search, the best starting points are a big hard swimbait, a more subtle hard glide, and a couple of soft swimbaits so you can match forage and fish mood.
Switch away from a swimbait if fish are holding tight to bottom, want a smaller profile, or are ignoring moving baits. In that case, a jig, Texas rig, or finesse bait will usually get more bites. If fish are chasing but not eating, downsize to a subtler swimbait or slow the retrieve and add pauses.
