Description

I once heard the spybait described like this " The best way to describe how a spybait works is to imagine you have a bait that fishes like a swimbait and a senko. It has an awesome action when it falls in the water column like a senko, and it swims with a subtle wobble like a swimbait. Bass can’t resist the deadly action of a spybait." I think that pretty much sums it up. although often used for suspended bass, I find the spybait works from the middle of the water column tall the way to the bottom. One of my favorite ways to fish it is just above the bottom with a nice slow retrieve. Get one and see what all the fuss is about. This spybait is styled after the Duo Realis, one of the first and leading spybaits available. NOTE: Each bait is hand painted in the order they are received. I make every effort to ship the baits within 3 days of receiving the order, however during the busy season it can take up to 5 to 8 business days to ship the baits. In most cases they do ship within 3 days, I never want to make anyone wait but I do need to maintain quality so it can take time sometimes.

Field Notes

A spybait is best when bass are suspended or holding in the middle of the water column, but it can also be worked down near the bottom. Use a slow, steady retrieve to keep the bait tracking with a subtle wobble, or let it fall to imitate a senko-like glide on the drop.

Pros

  • Subtle action that can trigger pressured bass
  • Effective for suspended fish and deeper presentations
  • Can be fished with a simple slow retrieve

Cons

  • Less effective when fish want a fast-moving reaction bait
  • Can be technique-sensitive and require patience
  • Not ideal in heavy vegetation or very dirty water
