Description

My first official attempt at a few muskie baits. 10-11” each. Articulated rear shank attached to a wire form weighted with 1/2oz ultra minnow airbrushed and epoxied heads. 5/0 treble in the rear. Double-10s copper brass blades on a bucktail perch pattern. Double-8s nickle blades on a marabou Fireball pattern (who knew muskie baits are sometimes made with fluffy marabou?! I was surprised to see they were!).

Field Notes

These are muskie bucktail-style lures built around large spinning blades and dressed bodies, meant to be cast and retrieved for big predator fish. The double-blade setups create strong flash and vibration, making them useful when you want to cover water and trigger reaction strikes.

Pros

  • Large profile for trophy muskie fishing
  • Strong flash and vibration from double blades
  • Articulated rear shank adds movement

Cons

  • Specialized for big fish and heavy tackle
  • Likely bulky and tiring to cast repeatedly
  • Not ideal for finesse presentations
