This is a surface popper designed to be worked with short rod twitches and pauses to make a splash and spit water. It’s best over calm to lightly rippled water around cover, docks, or open water when fish are feeding near the surface.

Pros

  • Strong surface commotion from the open-mouth design
  • Good for targeting fish that are looking up
  • Simple cast-and-pop retrieve

Cons

  • Less effective in heavy wind or rough water
  • Surface bait only, so it can be less versatile than subsurface lures
