Description

Designed to match the slow, level sink of our 7” and 9” Needlefish that 247 Lures has become so well known for, do not underestimate this little guy! When the bass are focused on smaller baitfish, a profile like this can be the key to a successful trip. Also works well with other fish species like Bonito, Albies, and Spanish Mackerel. As of January 2024, all our Needlefish lures - including this Slim 5” - are being rigged standard with one treble hook on the belly swivel and a custom tied FLAG on the tail loop (no hook on the rear). These can easily be rigged with dressed or undressed single hooks on the rear, or a treble if you prefer. But it is our opinion, in agreement with many respected anglers in the community, that a lure rigged with only one hook is distinctly better for both the striped bass as well as the angler. We still have to take photos of all the color options for this lure. In the meantime, please check out our 7” and 9” Needlefish pictures to see the all the color patterns we have in our repertoire. Inventory that you see listed here is real-time (as accurate as we can manage it). When placing an order through our website, the vast majority of orders (>99%) will ship within just a day or two. If by chance our inventory system is inaccurate, you’ll hear from us promptly to determine the best way to fulfill your order and ensure your satisfaction. (Exact weight and colors of lures will vary batch to batch and lure to lure. All of our lures are made in small batches, many of our colors are custom blends we mix ourselves, and even our internal lead weights are cut by hand. We do our best to keep lure shape, weight, and paint as consistent as possible, but 247 Lures is very far from mass-production where every lure is exactly the same.)

Field Notes

Best for matching small baitfish when bass or striped bass are keyed in on a slender profile. The slow, level sink makes it useful for casting and letting it swim or sink naturally in the water column, especially around feeding fish. It can also be used for bonito, albies, and Spanish mackerel when they are chasing narrow bait.

Pros

  • Slim baitfish profile for finicky feeders
  • Slow, level sink for natural presentation
  • Can be rigged with one or multiple hooks

Cons

  • Color options not clearly shown in the listing
