Field Notes

Best around baitfish schools, grass edges, docks, and other shallow inshore cover where a wounded-minnow profile gets bites. Use a twitch-and-pause retrieve to make the bait dart side-to-side and suspend in the strike zone. The floating version is useful when you want the lure to stay higher in the water column over very shallow water or cover.

Pros

  • Suspending action keeps the lure in the strike zone on pauses
  • Twitchbait profile mimics wounded baitfish
  • Strong hook options for inshore species

Cons

  • Can be less effective in heavy current or very dirty water
  • Requires a rhythmic pause-and-twitch retrieve to get the best action
