A beadhead nymph pattern for subsurface trout fishing, especially when fish are feeding near the bottom or in the drift. Dead-drift it under an indicator or as part of a nymph rig in moving water and pocket water.

Pros

  • Simple, effective subsurface trout pattern
  • Beadhead helps it get down quickly
  • Works well in a nymph rig or as a single fly

Cons

  • Not a good choice for surface-feeding fish
  • May need added weight or split shot in deeper runs
