Yellowstone Fly Goods

Field Notes

A caddis larva imitation is best fished near the bottom where trout are feeding on drifting or dislodged aquatic insects. Dead-drift it under an indicator or as part of a nymph rig in riffles, runs, and pocket water.

Pros

  • Realistic caddis larva profile
  • Effective as a subsurface trout fly
  • Versatile in nymph rigs

Cons

  • Can be hard to see in low light
  • May require added weight or split shot in faster water
