Remember to work bait at a medium speed keeping the “footprint” or path of the bait narrow for better hooking. Recommended rod length for proper action is a 7' to 7' 6" stick. Another tip for best action is to use a single strand 174 pound or heavy flouorocarbon without a swivel on the other end. The swivel adds unneeded weight to the front of the lure. Also, don’t be afraid to use this lure in two to three foot waves! See it in action Fish caught on this bait -->

Field Notes

This is a large wooden surface lure designed to be worked at a medium speed with a narrow path. It is recommended for early and late season, cold fronts, heavy weeds, and rough water, and can be fished in 2-3 foot waves. Use a heavy fluorocarbon leader without a swivel to preserve action.

Pros

  • Hand carved wood construction
  • Durable stainless screw eyes and split rings
  • Good for cold fronts, heavy weeds, and rough water

Cons

  • Large profile may be too much for calm finesse situations
  • Requires proper rod length and retrieve speed for best action
