Field Notes

This is a surface minnow-style lure made from timber, suited to casting and walking or twitching over shallow water. Use it around cover, rocky banks, and open-water edges when bass are feeding near the surface, especially in low-light periods.

Pros

  • Natural timber look can be very effective in clear water
  • Large 180 mm profile draws attention from bigger fish
  • Surface presentation is good for reaction strikes

Cons

  • Large size may be too much for pressured fish
  • Wood construction can be less durable than plastic lures
  • Best used where fish are willing to hit topwater
