Description

The Mattlures 12.5 in Upside dead stick Sits just under the surface, upside down in the belly up position. The white belly breaks the surface making it easy to see from a distance. The purpose of this bait is to replicate a freshly stocked dying trout. There are usually a few in each stocking that go belly up and many times they are the first to be eaten. The realism of this bait is absolutely ridiculous. This is some of Matt’s finest work and you won’t find a more realistic trout bait anywhere. The Upside dead stick is a floating, soft bodied bait with a hard interior core. The bait is meant to be used as a true dead stick bait. Cast it out and just let it bob in the ripples of the water and the bait comes to life. The fins and tail section all have their own movement witch add to the realism of this bait. It looks like a freshly stocked injured trout. Big bass and Stripers can’t resist this big easy meal. The bait weighs about 14.5 ounces and comes with premium Owner treble hooks.

Field Notes

This is a floating, dead-stick style trout imitation meant to sit just under the surface and look like an injured or dying stocked trout. Cast it out and let it drift or bob with minimal movement; the bait’s fins and tail add subtle life on their own. It is especially suited to calm water and situations where bass or stripers are feeding on trout.

Pros

  • Extremely realistic trout profile and finish
  • Floating presentation is easy to keep in the strike zone
  • Subtle built-in movement works on a dead-stick retrieve

Cons

  • Very large and heavy bait
  • Requires patience and calm conditions to shine
  • Specialized presentation may be too subtle for aggressive fish
