These are both downsized Japanese crankbaits with a strong “storied” pedigree, and they’re especially good when you want a compact reaction bait that still deflects hard and recovers fast. The MR-X GRIFFON (BFS) is the better pick for slightly deeper rocky structure and the 7 ft range, while the SR-X GRIFFON (BFS) is the shallower option for rock, current seams, and cover where a quick ricochet matters.
Use precise casts and a steady retrieve so the bait can contact cover naturally. Let it bounce off rock, wood, or hard edges, then keep reeling through the deflection. These are especially effective on bait finesse setups when fish want a smaller profile and a high-pitch wobble.
Switch to a different crankbait style if you need much deeper diving, a wider wobble, or a larger profile for pressured fish that are keying on bigger forage. If the water is very open with little cover, a less deflection-driven bait may be easier to keep in the strike zone.
