A wakebait is designed to run on or just under the surface and leave a visible wake. Use it around shallow cover, over grass, or along banks when bass are active and willing to chase a bait near the surface.

Pros

  • Creates a strong surface wake that draws reaction strikes
  • Good for covering shallow water quickly
  • Effective around cover and low-light periods

Cons

  • Less effective when bass are deep or inactive
  • Can be difficult to fish cleanly in heavy surface chop
