A wake bait is designed to run just under or on the surface and leave a visible wake. It is effective around shallow cover, over open water, or along edges when bass are feeding near the top, especially in low-light periods.

Cons

  • Can be less effective in heavy wind or rough water
  • Often requires a steady retrieve and some tuning to run correctly
