Field Notes

A slow-pitch back-slide jig for working near the bottom around reefs or through mid-water schools of feeding fish. Use longer lifts and controlled twitches to make it dart and change angle while staying in the strike zone. Best when fish want a slower fall and a clean, erratic presentation rather than a spinning jig.

Pros

  • Controlled back-slide action
  • Slow to medium sink rate keeps it in the strike zone longer
  • Ready to fish with BKK assist hooks

Cons

  • Heavier jig can be tiring for all-day casting
  • Not ideal when fish want a fast-falling presentation
