Description

The Controlled Back Slide Performer The Gypsea is a traditional teardrop back slide jig built for slow to medium speed work. It darts and changes angle when twitched yet remains easy to control and in the strike zone. The Gypsea range is built for working near bottom for reef species or alternatively can be worked through schools of feeding fish in the mid water column allowing for a longer strike period with its slower sink rate. Slow Pitch: Direction change + Slow to medium sink rate.

Field Notes

This is a slow-pitch back-slide jig designed to stay in the strike zone on a controlled descent. Work it with slow to medium lifts and pauses near bottom structure or through feeding fish in the mid-water column. It is especially useful when fish want a clean, erratic dart rather than a fast spinning fall.

Pros

  • Controlled back-slide action
  • Slow to medium sink rate keeps it in the strike zone longer
  • Ready to fish with assist hooks

Cons

  • Less effective if fish want a fast-falling jig
  • Can be too subtle for very aggressive surface-feeding fish
