Berkley Fishing

Field Notes

Wire leaders are used between the main line and lure or bait to add abrasion resistance and help prevent bite-offs from toothy fish. They are especially useful when targeting species with sharp teeth or rough mouths, and the wire-wound construction adds strength for demanding presentations.

Pros

  • Adds bite-off protection
  • Strong wire-wound construction
  • Useful for toothy fish

Cons

  • Can be more visible than fluorocarbon
  • May reduce lure action slightly
