Choo Choo Lures

Field Notes

This is a surface-moving bass lure best used over shallow cover, grass edges, and around docks or laydowns. Retrieve it steadily so the blade churns and the skirt pulses, especially in low light or when fish are willing to chase. The name suggests a river-oriented pattern, so it can also be useful in moving water where bass are feeding near the surface.

Pros

  • Surface commotion helps draw reaction strikes.
  • Good around shallow cover and low-light conditions.
  • Skirted profile adds bulk and vibration.

Cons

  • Less effective in cold water or when bass want a slower presentation.
  • Can get fouled in heavy vegetation or thick surface debris.
