MirrOlure

Field Notes

A floating offshore stickbait is best worked around bait schools, surface activity, and fish feeding near the top. Cast it long and use a walk-the-dog or twitch-and-pause retrieve to imitate an injured baitfish. It is especially useful when targeting pelagic fish in open water from a boat.

Pros

  • Floating profile stays in the strike zone near the surface
  • Good for long casts and visual strikes
  • Works well around bait and surface commotion

Cons

  • Less effective when fish are holding deep
  • Can be difficult to work in rough water or heavy wind
