Description

New for 2025! The Smallie Football Shakey Jig Worm is a Bass Lab exclusive design with a sticky sharp Gamakatsu or VMC hook. It's part finesse jig, part shakeyhead with some JDM inspired flair for something the smallies haven't seen. It's tied with a variety of materials that we leave it extra long for some nice flow. Then we add just enough crystal flash to draw their attention, and finish it off "finesse jig" style with some natural material that is palmer tied up front--which makes the jig stand up at rest. This jig is truly something unique that they haven't seen and make no mistake, this bait will produce big bites--and numbers! You can pair it up with a variety of baits including the new Hollow Tip Worm (HTW) Bass Lab/Samatis baits collaboration in my favorite color--Green Pumpkin Watermelon laminate with metal flake that imitates goby, perch, craws and gills! The HTW comes with free glass rattles that drive smallies wild. It's produced many Saint Lawrence Super Tankers and Ontario Tubs up North over 5lbs and some that tipped the scale at 6lbs! This bait is hand-tied on a 1/8, 3/16, 1/4, or 5/16oz jig head with a vertical 90 degree line tine to help you from hanging up. It sports a sticky sharp hook and the jig naturally tips up at rest. The talon or ribbed bait keeper is perfect for rigging open hook style to peg those smallies! Limited Quantities in three smallmouth snatching colors that sell out fast.

Field Notes

This is a finesse smallmouth jig designed to be paired with a worm or other soft plastic and worked around bottom structure. The stand-up head and 90-degree line tie make it a good choice for dragging, hopping, or dead-sticking when bass are feeding on gobies, perch, craws, or bluegill imitations.

Pros

  • Stand-up head helps the bait sit naturally at rest
  • Finesse profile is good for pressured smallmouth
  • Available in multiple light jig weights

Cons

  • Best suited to slower bottom-oriented presentations
  • Light wire/finesse build may not be ideal for heavy cover
