Description

If you love big spook-style lures and have an addiction to topwater, the 247 Lures Mully is the plug you should be fishing! The 247 Lures Mully is 6.5″ long and weighs 2oz, so it’s big enough to throw a country mile but not too big to work like a pro. Small, rapid twitches with the Mully create a walk-the-dog retrieve that will attract fish from far and wide! Unlike those plastic spook-style lures on the market, the 247 Lures Mully is designed to make a big commotion on the water. When floating at rest, the Mully will bob vertically at the water’s surface, with the nose pointing up. As you retrieve line, the Mully will splash side to side as well as up and down. Vary the speed of your retrieve slightly, and you can make the Mully glide quietly side to side, or make it splash and throw a serious wake. As of January 2024, all our topwater lures - including this Mully - are being rigged standard with one treble hook on the belly swivel and an inline single hook on the tail. This is a change we’ve been aiming to make for several years now, but finally have a quality vendor for the VMC inline singles we’ve been wanting to use. (Exact weight and colors of lures will vary batch to batch and lure to lure. All of our lures are made in small batches, many of our colors are custom blends we mix ourselves, and even our internal lead weights are cut by hand. We do our best to keep lure shape, weight, and paint as consistent as possible, but 247 Lures is very far from mass-production where every lure is exactly the same.)

Field Notes

This is a big spook-style topwater plug for covering water and drawing reaction strikes. Work it with short, rapid twitches to create a walk-the-dog retrieve, or vary the cadence to make it splash, glide, and throw wake. Best over open water or around surface-feeding fish when you want maximum commotion.

Pros

  • Big surface commotion and strong visibility
  • Walk-the-dog action with multiple retrieve options
  • Floats at rest for easy pause-and-twitch presentations

Cons

  • Large profile may be too much for finicky fish
  • Topwater effectiveness drops in rough surface conditions
