Field Notes

A dry fly imitation of a stonefly, best fished on or near the surface during stonefly hatches. Drift it naturally along seams, riffles, and pocket water where trout are feeding on adult insects. It can also work as a visible attractor dry in faster water.

Pros

  • Highly visible profile for fast water
  • Good imitation of a large terrestrial/insect hatch
  • Useful as a dry fly attractor

Cons

  • Can be less effective outside hatch periods
  • May require careful float treatment and drag-free presentation
