Imakatsu recommends three different retrieves for the Gillpop. Step 1: Simply cast it out and let it pause for 5 seconds on the surface. Because of its realistic 3D finish, the only thing a bass sees is a weakened bluegill resting due to lack of oxygen. Step 2: Pop it without trying to splash too much. One pop produces just the right amount of splash to imitate exactly how a natural bluegill would act oxygenating itself on the surface. The Gillpop also features an internal rattle that generates a high pitch sound, similar to real a bluegill taking oxygen. Step 3: Give it three jerks then finish with a hard jerk to make it dive.
