Use it like a jerk bait, pausing momentarily to entice strikes. Add in a floatation insert for longer hang time and glide distance. When fishing open water, work the bait with a quick sweep / pause retrieve, fish can often be triggered to bite when the lure is burned back to the boat in the last 20 yards of the cast.
