Choo Choo Lures

Field Notes

This is a skirted jig-style lure, best used around cover where bass are holding tight. Work it with short hops, dragging, or a swim-and-pause presentation depending on the cover and depth. The white/red pattern can be effective when fish are feeding on shad or reacting to a wounded-bait look.

Pros

  • Versatile around cover and open water
  • Skirted profile can imitate baitfish or crawfish
  • Good for casting and pitching

Cons

  • Single-color pattern may be less effective in very muddy water
  • Can snag in heavy cover if not worked carefully
