Spring on the Bighorn is outstanding. Stable flows from Yellowtail Dam, clear water, and fish that have been feeding all winter make the Bighorn one of the most consistent spring fisheries in the country. This box is built around the Bighorn's spring hatch calendar — midges, BWOs, and early PMDs. Every fly was chosen with dry fly fishing and technical nymphing in mind, giving you exactly what you need to match what the fish are eating at this time of year. What's in the box: 36 flies total — 18 unique patterns, 2 of each — covering midge clusters, BWO dries, PMD emergers, and small nymph patterns. No filler. No patterns that don't belong on this river in this season. Pro tip from the water: Spring midge hatches on the Bighorn can produce incredible surface activity. Fish size 20-22 midge patterns and be prepared for refusals — these are educated, well-fed trout.
