Description

Designed, tested and hand poured here in South Africa...this swimbait has been proven on our local waters. The ROVER is a weedless 6 inch boot tail style swimbait, designed for the angler in pursuit of larger than average bass that live in and around heavy cover where most other swimbaits cant go... If you’re thinking about getting into bigger swimbaits, the ROVER is the perfect bait to start with...no need for specialized swimbait gear to start throwing it. APPEARANCE:A natural appearance and lifelike action are critical when trying to fool the biggest bass in your lake... these fish are clever and have seen hundreds of lures in their lifetime. The ROVER was carefully designed around a specific hook ensuring the hook is barely visible to the fish. The lead weight is concealed within a pocket in the swimbait’s underbelly, while the hook shank and point sit flush against the body, ensuring there’s nothing unnatural protruding from the bait. These small details along with natural colours can make all the difference. HOOK UPS: The 6“ ROVER has been carefully designed around the powerful Owner Beast hook, a hook renowned for its sharpness, strength and ability to keep those giants pinned all the way back to the boat. The ROVER features an air chamber below the hook point that allows the bait to collapse, resulting in solid hook-ups. The thin rear section of the bait allows it to easily fold in half when inhaled, this also contributes to great hookups. ACTION: The ROVER features an enticing head nod and a subtle belly roll—key actions that ultimately trigger big bass to fully commit and inhale the bait. The belly weighted hook with its low centre of gravity, together with the air chamber and flat underbelly provide stability at various retrieve speeds. These features also ensure the bait doesnt fall onto it’s side when stopped and crawled dead slow on the bottom. HOW TO FISH IT: The weedless swimbait design allows the ROVER to be fished on or near the lake bottom and in heavier cover than other top hook & harness-style swimbaits. The shape of the bait and position of the line tie allows it to come over rocks and laydowns with ease, because of this we’ve found that slowing down & “bumping bottom” with the ROVER has been our most succesfull way to fish it. The ROVER can be fished successfully in a few different ways at various depths... Rig it with an unweighted beast hook and slow roll it near the surface above submerged trees or on shallow grassy flats. To add a bit of weight and fish it around shallow cover, rig it with the 6/0, 1/4 ounce beast hook. If you’re wanting to fish it around deeper structure in that 10 to 15 ft range and bump bottom with it , use the 8/0, 3/8 ounce owner beast hook. Using the same 3/8 ounce beast hook, just add a tungsten nail weight into the belly and fish it in 20 to 30 ft of water. RECOMMENDED TACKLE: The ROVER is a 6 inch swimbait, weighing 1.5 ounces. No specialized tackle is needed to start throwing the ROVER. Any 7ft heavy action rod will get the job done. If you would like to take it more seriously you can't go wrong with the PESCA swimbait / glidebait rod. From casting to hooksets and getting the fish to the boat , it does it's job brilliantly and stands up to alot of abuse. A 200 size baitcasting reel to handle enough line for those long casts is recommended. As far as line goes, 20lb flouro is recommended to keep your bait down and to stand up to contact with rocks and timber. If you’re fishing it shallow or in really heavy cover, 50lb braid may be a better option.
