During the development of Crafter's, the hooks were fine tuned in various conditions, making microscopic adjustments, to ensure an effective hookset with each fish. The shape of the hook consistently results in solid corner of the mouth hookups. The small heavy duty ring allows for easy split-ring rigging of these heavy gauge hooks and aligns the hook correctly on the lure, preserving the intended action of the lure. The ring does also allow a degree of rotational freedom reducing the fish's ability to gain leverage on the lure, meaning less lost fish.
