Walt's Worm Jig

Walt’s worm is one of the most productive freestone flies out there. It has that rough-around-the-edges look that mountain trout cannot resist! While it can imitate everything from a mayfly larva to a caddis pupa, it’s a great generic attractor to fish in a multiple fly rig. In fact, on a new stream or one with limited hatches, a good setup can be a midge nymph with walt’s worm trailing 12-inches behind. Anglers using those two flies in tandem can successfully bounce from pocket to pocket but still be able to drift the plunge pools and deeper runs that always hold fish.
