Description

There are adverse conditions that place a different set of demands on our equipment - extreme weather, extreme distance, or even extreme flies. The Ultralite X is the answer to those demands and is significantly faster than our standard Ultralite. The high recovery rates drive tight loops with even the largest flies. The more powerful butt section is built for lifting deep sunk lines, pressuring large fish away from snags, and handling density compensated fly lines with aggressive tapers.

Field Notes

Built for demanding fly fishing situations where extra power and speed matter, especially long casts, big flies, and heavy or density-compensated fly lines. The faster action and stronger butt section help lift sunk lines and control large fish around snags or other structure.

Pros

  • Fast recovery helps form tight loops at distance
  • Powerful butt section improves lifting and fish control
  • Suited to extreme conditions and larger flies

Cons

  • Likely less forgiving for beginners
  • Fast action may be harder to load at short range

10 Foot #7 Ultralite x I bought this rod with the expectation that I wouldn't like it. The reviews I watched all mentioned how fast the action was with one review stating it was more like an extra fast action. I much prefer medium to medium fast. However, I took it out on a windy morning and within ten minutes I appreciated how nice it was to cast in the wind. I could power the line straight out into the wind and unfurl the leader. It's a very nice rod and light to boot for its size. I am very impressed and glad I gave it a try. Very nice rod Mr Hardy.
