Field Notes

This is a spinner-style lure for salmon and steelhead, best used when fish are holding in current seams, runs, or deeper travel lanes. Cast upstream or quartering across current and retrieve just fast enough to keep the blade turning and the lure tracking naturally.

Pros

  • Flashy blade and bright body stand out in stained water
  • Good for covering water in moving current
  • Simple cast-and-retrieve presentation

Cons

  • Can be less effective in very clear, pressured water
  • Single-hook spinner can snag if worked too close to bottom
