Description

The Big One has earned its place in the cod scene as a go-to lure when you’re chasing better fish. Built around a large baitfish profile, this lure is designed to be cast tight into structure and worked back through the strike zone with confidence. It’s a shallow diver that can be pushed down to around that 2–3m mark on the cast, making it ideal for working over rock bars, along submerged timber, and across those prime ambush zones. At 130mm with a deep-bodied profile, it moves plenty of water and gives off a strong, steady thump — exactly what you want when you’re trying to get the attention of an XL Murray Cod without overworking the lure. Simple to fish, easy to control, and built tough — The Big One is made for putting a proper lure in front of a proper fish. Field Notes

A shallow-diving hard bait for casting tight to structure and working back through the strike zone. Best around rock bars, submerged timber, and other ambush cover where a big baitfish profile and strong thump can draw reaction strikes. The 2–3 m running depth makes it useful when you want a lure that stays relatively shallow but still gets down enough to contact fish holding off cover.

Pros

  • Large baitfish profile for big fish
  • Shallow diver reaches about 2–3 m
  • Strong steady thump
  • Built tough with 4/0 VMC 3X hooks

Cons

  • May be too large for smaller bass or finesse situations
  • Can snag in heavy timber and rock if retrieved carelessly
