Strike indicators are used on fly rigs to help detect subtle takes when nymphing or fishing subsurface flies. They are especially useful in moving water or when fishing at a distance, where visual bite detection is harder.

Pros

Cons

  • Can reduce stealth in very clear water
  • May need adjustment to balance casting and drift
