Limestone Bait Co

Field Notes

A stonefly larva imitation is a finesse soft plastic for trout and panfish, especially when fish are feeding on aquatic insects near the bottom. Drift it under a float, dead-stick it, or lightly hop it along seams, riffles, and rocky runs where stoneflies are present.

Pros

  • Excellent insect imitation for pressured fish
  • Works well with subtle presentations
  • Wide color selection for clear or stained water

Cons

  • Small profile can be hard to cast in wind
  • Best results usually require finesse tactics
