Standard Spreaders Some folks call them ‘dividers,’ some ‘spreaders,’ and sometimes ‘splitters.’ Whatever you call them, they are the traditional way to separate your leader from your weight dropper to prevent tangling the two. Styles 1 and 3 incorporate a reinforcement spring, while Style 2 does not. Style 3 has a snap on the lead dropper arm so sinkers can be attached directly to the spreader or used with a dropper.
