Description

The Specialist Dry Selection (Updated for 2026) - from Barbless Flies The Specialist Dry Selection are designs which, over the last few years, have proved themselves in the fish catching stakes. Some are generic patterns which represent numerous flies, all can be used in the summer months to catch those most wary fish. These flies are all great imitations (all tied on barbless hooks - of course!). In total there are 16 flies supplied in our eco-friendly packaging . All of these flies are hand tied using barbless hooks, in sizes 14, 16 and 18 (full details below) using quality materials. Descriptions and images of the flies can be found below (should you want to buy the flies individually, please click on the fly titles): March Brown Jingler - An imitation of the Large Dark Olive, this spider like fly is fished dry and sits just in the meniscus. Can be used in either early or late season, one of the new generation of flies. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16. Kite's Imperial - Designed by Oliver Kite in the 1960s This fly probably accounts for more fish due to its uncanny resemblance to a Large Dark Olive dun. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16. IOBO Humpy (It Oughta Be Outlawed) - One of the best named flies around! The IOBO Humpy was originally designed and tied by Jack Tucker of Pennsylvania, USA. Very simple to tie (using a single CdC feather), floats like a cork and is deadly. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 18. Iron Blue Paradun - The parachute style of Iron Blue imitation is tied to imitate the insect which has hatched and is resting on the surface - waiting for its wings to dry out. The perfect time for a trout to intercept it. This selection contains two each of sizes 14 & 16. The above price includes 16 hand-tied specialist dry flies supplied in our eco-friendly packaging.
