Gambler Lures

Field Notes

A swim jig is a versatile moving bait for covering water around grass, docks, and shallow cover. It can be swum steadily, bumped through vegetation, or used as a search bait when bass are active.

Pros

  • Good for covering water quickly
  • Works well around vegetation and shallow cover
  • Simple one-piece presentation

Cons

  • Less effective when fish want a very slow presentation
  • Can snag in heavy cover if not retrieved cleanly
