Field Notes

This is a Type 7 sinking fly line designed to get flies down quickly and stay in the strike zone. Use it for deep nymphing, streamer fishing, or searching varying depths when trout, pike, or perch are holding below the surface. The weight-forward taper helps with long casts and turnover of larger flies.

  • Fast-sinking profile reaches deep water quickly
  • Weight-forward taper casts well at distance
  • Good for searching multiple depths

Cons

  • Not ideal when fish are shallow or near the surface
  • Sinking line can be less versatile than floating line
