Scud

Scuds are like sprinkles on ice cream, meaning they are small and taste like hardened confectionery sugar. Trout can be found eating these little sprinkles year-round. In streams with plentiful underwater vegetation these shrimp'y thingies usually take up most of the food pyramid (sorry carbohydrates). During winter months, trout heavily depend on scud to make it through the winter. It's always a wise decision to pack a load of these for your next trip.
