Hareline Dubbin

Field Notes

Fly tying body material used to add a segmented scud or shrimp back on nymphs and other small subsurface patterns. It is typically wrapped or tied over the top of the fly to create a realistic shellback profile and a bit of translucency.

Pros

  • Useful for realistic scud and shrimp imitations
  • Easy to cut and tie in for fly tying

Cons

  • Only a material, not a finished fly
  • Limited use outside fly tying
