When we opened our fly shop in 1997, we had Ross Reels... we were the only game in town and it was awesome. As the fly fishing boom pressed on, Ross changed their look and their style, and we did not like the way they looked with our rods, so we stopped selling them. Recently however, Ross Reels (no affiliation with JP Ross other than name) is under new management and JP has close connections with upper management at the firm.
